With a few additions to the New Tech staff, we decided to interview the new facilitators. We wondered if they were liking the new school as much as we were. The facilitators we chose to interview are Mr. Sisson, Mr. Porter, and Mr. Woodard. The questions we asked them all are shown below for every facilitator.

 

Mr. Sisson’s Interview by Tony

Q: Why did you choose to come to Rogers New Technology High School?

A: “I love the way that they teach and how classes go. Something I wanted to be apart of.”

Q: How was the transition from traditional school to project based learning?

A: “Still a work in progress.”

Q: How are the students here different than the ones at traditional high schools?

A: “Students take ownership of own learning. Students are more excited about work.”

Q: How long do you expect yourself to be here?

A: “Years. Not sure.”

Q: What do you like the most about working at New Tech?

A: “The people.”

Q: Did you teach at a school before this one?

A: Yes, Gravette High School.

Q: How was the transition from a traditional HS to New Tech?

A: No I did a lot of PBL training before, so it was an easy change.

Q: Have you noticed a difference of the students here compared to the ones at your previous school?

A: Yes, the students here are less afraid of due dates.

Q: What do you like the most about New Tech?

A: The student enthusiasm in the students.

Q: What is one thing you would like to see improve at New Tech?

A: Better collaboration between students.

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?

A: Was an intern for Mr.Morley

     1. He likes to play video games.

     2. He graduated from University of Arkansas.

Q: What made you wanna work here at New Tech High?

A: “I saw that the students looked a lot happier here.”

Q: How do you assess and evaluate your students?

A: “I watch over their shoulder to see what they’re doing and comments on echo. I make sure they’re working hard and if they need help, I will try my best to get them where they need to be.”

Q: Do you like the project based learning?

A: “Yes that’s also a reason why I decided to come to New Tech. I definitely think it’s a more efficient way of teaching.”

Q: Are the students here at New Tech different from those of Regular High Schools?

A: Unanswered.
